May INSHORE

The seagrass is so prevalent in the Orange Beach – Perdido Key areas that the Orange Beach City Council declared an Official Seagrass Day. Fishing nearshore or from the beach this time of year  can result in big balls of grass being pulled in almost every cast. With the seagrass floating around the bait can be hard to find. As a result were doing a bit more traveling on the water than we normally like to run. The name of this game is to have plenty of live shrimp. We’re targeting Mackerel, Trout, Redfish, and even a few Bluefish and flounder along the beaches.

May OFFSHORE

Just because your offshore doesn’t mean you’re out of the weeds. However, many game fish such as Mahi Mahi, Wahoo & Sailfish see these grasslands as a great spot to pick off hiding bait fish therefore, if you see a weed line offshore go fish it! Vermillion and Amberjacks are still hanging around the reefs offshore. Offshore fishing in May brings a variety of opportunity to those willing to put in the time and be flexible.
