September Fishing Report 2019

September Inshore Fishing

Surf fishing in the Orange Beach / Perdido Key Area is at its best during the month of September. Inshore fishing during these months can be very enjoyable because the action is still hot but the temperatures start cooling down. Jack Carvell are chasing the bait balls in the bay and Intracoastal Waterway and can be spotted cruising down Ole River. Therefore, all you sight fisherman better be on your “A” game because the inshore giants move fast.

Don’t discount a cast-net if your looking to fill a cooler. Mullet can be found in the north end of the bays. The top water action is found on grass flats where anglers ,on the ready, can hook in to Redfish and Trout. Both the spanish mackerel and the mangrove snapper are starting to congregate in open nearshore waters.

September Offshore Fishing

The bonita are thick with in the 1st three miles. While trolling, be on the lookout for debris and grass, Chicken Dolphin (a smaller cousin of the Mahi Mahi) and a few sailfish have been hiding out under the shadows of grass mats. Natural bottom reefs produce gag grouper this time of year. Of course the reefs and wrecks are still holding the Amberjacks and larger sharks.
