Destin, FL – June Fishing Report
Welcome back, Emerald Coast Sportsman!
Destin’s nickname as “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” holds true in June — and the bite is red hot across inshore, offshore, and nearshore waters. Calm seas and loaded bait balls mean one thing: it’s go-time.
Inshore Action
The Choctawhatchee Bay system is producing quality Trout and Redfish, especially in early mornings near the bridges and grass flats. Shrimp under popping corks and paddle tail swimbaits have been consistent producers.
Flounder numbers are building near docks and sandy bottoms around East Pass, and live finger mullet is your best bet.
Nearshore & Offshore Bite
Just off the beach, King and Spanish Mackerel are chasing glass minnows — and trolling with spoons or cigar minnows has been the move. For Cobia, keep a lookout near floating debris and rays as they cruise the surface.
Red Snapper season officially opens this month, and trips out to the natural bottom and artificial reefs are already seeing excellent limits. You’ll also find Amberjack still thick on the deeper wrecks, alongside Grouper and Triggers.
Dolphin (Mahi), Wahoo, and even Sailfish are making cameos for offshore anglers running the weed lines — so pack your trolling gear and your sunscreen.
Beaches & Piers
June is beach fishing at its finest. Pompano and Whiting are still hitting strong on sand fleas and Fishbites, while Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish are causing chaos near the piers.
Looking to hook a monster? The shark bite in Destin is on fire. Rig up with heavy tackle, drop a chunk of Bonita, and let the nighttime surf be your arena.
Final Word
Destin is dialed in right now. From pier hopping to offshore hunts, this is the month to make your mark. Call now — the bite won’t wait!
