Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, AL Fishing Report – June 2025

June 2025 Fishing Report – Orange Beach & Gulf Shores

Everything changes in June—and in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, it’s officially go time for anglers. Red Snapper season is in full swing, and there’s no better place to be for those looking to head offshore. Known as the Red Snapper Fishing Capital of the World, Orange Beach offers much more than reef fishing this time of year. From inshore redfish to king mackerel offshore, the action is about as hot as the Gulf Coast sun. Just remember to plan around the near-daily pop-up showers. These summer storms usually roll through mid to late afternoon and clear out just as fast as they arrive.

June OFFSHORE

By mid-June, we expect to start seeing floating seagrass patches offshore. While they might be a nuisance for beachgoers, for anglers, they’re a neon sign for action. Mahi Mahi and cobia love to lurk around these mats, looking for shade and an easy meal. A quick pitch with a fast-retrieve lure or live bait can get the party started fast.

And of course, the main attraction—Red Snapper. The 2025 Alabama Red Snapper season opens May 24 and runs Fridays through Mondays only, so plan accordingly. Thanks to Alabama’s massive artificial reef system, these waters offer some of the most consistent Red Snapper fishing in the country.

But don’t stop there—king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, mahi mahi, and blackfin tuna also show up inside state waters this time of year. It’s a mixed bag, and there’s something for every level of angler. Just don’t forget to bring plenty of water—June temps and humidity can sneak up on you.

June INSHORE

If staying closer to shore is more your style, inshore fishing in June still delivers the goods. Redfish, speckled trout, and pompano are all feeding actively, especially early in the morning and in the evening hours. Keep an eye out for sharks, too—they’re more active inshore during the hottest months. If targeting sharks is on your bucket list, check captain bios carefully—some guides specialize in it, while others steer clear.

For those looking to dodge the heat, consider dock light fishing after sunset or try a saltwater bowfishing trip. Both offer a cooler, more unique way to experience the back bays and make memories that go beyond the typical rod-and-reel.

Orange Beach is one of the top saltwater fishing destinations in the U.S., and as always, the best dates book up fast. Once you know your travel dates, it’s time to lock in your trip.
