From the brackish bays to offshore rigs, New Orleans offers world-class action this time of year — and June is one of the best months to fish Louisiana’s legendary waters.
Inshore Action
The marshes and bayous south of NOLA are packed with feeding Redfish and Speckled Trout. Launch out of Hopedale, Delacroix, or Shell Beach and focus on grass lines, drains, and oyster beds.
Live shrimp under corks and Matrix Shad soft plastics are hard to beat. Reds are thick and aggressive — perfect conditions for a shallow-water showdown.
Nearshore & Offshore Bite
Head out through the passes and the nearshore action heats up fast. Bull Reds, Spanish Mackerel, and Cobia are on the hunt around shrimp boats and rigs.
June also kicks off serious offshore season. Red Snapper are stacked on the rigs and platforms, and Grouper and Amberjack are hanging deeper on ledges and wrecks. The bluewater bite is also rising — with Mahi and Tuna in striking distance for long-range trips out of Venice.
Beaches & Piers
While most beach action is better east or south, don’t overlook the bridges and public piers in Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne. Drum, Reds, and the occasional Flounder are still being caught — especially around moving water.
