Corpus Christi, TX – June Fishing Report
Howdy, Coastal Bend Sportsman!
The Gulf waters off Corpus Christi are turning up the heat — and so is the fishing. With steady weather, warm tides, and baitfish filling the bays and beachfront, it’s prime time to target everything from tailing Reds to pelagics offshore.
Inshore Action
Redfish and Speckled Trout are thick in the Laguna Madre. Early morning topwater bites over grass beds are explosive, and live shrimp or croaker are top choices as the sun climbs. Keep an eye out for schools of Black Drum cruising mud flats and potholes — they’ll crush a well-placed dead shrimp or crab chunk.
Flounder are holding tight to sandy drops near the Packery Channel and shoreline edges. Soft plastics and live finger mullet are the ticket. And if you’re targeting Sheepshead around docks or pilings, drop a fiddler crab and hold on.
Nearshore & Offshore Bite
The rigs and reefs off Port Aransas are heating up with Kingfish, Cobia, and the occasional Sailfish. Trolling ribbonfish or slow-pitch jigging over structure has been producing steady action.
Snapper season kicks off June 1, and the bite is already on fire. Hit the nearshore rigs for fast limits of Red Snapper, along with Vermilion Snapper, Triggerfish, and Grouper in the mix. Amberjack are lurking on deeper structures — and they’re ready to test your tackle.
Beaches & Piers
The surf and piers from North Beach to Padre Island are loaded with Whiting, Pompano, and slot Reds. Fresh shrimp and Fishbites on double-drop rigs are working well.
Shark fishing from the beach? Still a go-to! Nighttime surf sets with cut Jack Crevalle or Ray have been drawing in Blacktips and the occasional Bull. Just be shark-smart and follow Texas regs.
