Nearshore Fishing: Spring Break 2018
God gave us spring break for a reason. It’s my personal belief that that reason is, he knows fishing is good for the sole. With that being the case, spring break weather started off as a very welcome break from the bitterly cold wet winter that decided to stick around through the end of February. Eventhow the high winds did make things a little dicey on the big water the inshore fishing remained constant. Redfish and sheepshead were found all along the beaches, jetties, and bridges. The Sheepshead showed up a little later than expected and as of today (3-28-18) they are still around and willing to play ball.
Nearshore Fishing: Right Now
The picture featured above was taken during Spring Break 2017 in Destin, FL. Our Captian took my self and three other Auburn Alum just a few miles out for a catch and release Amberjack mission. Notably short nearshore fishing trips are a great option for fighting Amberjack and filling the cooler with Mingo Snapper & Trigger Fish. Furthermore, the video attached to this fishing report was filmed out of Orange Beach, AL on March 19th. As you can easily see from the video… our cooler was full.
Nearshore Fishing: Fishing in April
Hopefully, April will cooperate in bringing warmer weather thus leading to an overall increase in water temp. If all goes according to plan anglers all along the gulf coast will be chasing cobia as well as Spanish & King Mackerel. While the Spanish Mackerel have had some good days in St. Andrews Bay (PCB, FL) their numbers seem to be lower as one moves west towards Orange Beach, Alabama. If it were my money, wait for a warm spring day when the water is clear, jump in a cobia tower and go for a ride. It could very well be an epic way to start off the season.
From Surf fishing for pompano off the beach to shooting rays in the bays, all things inshore will remain hot as the water temperature slowly rises. Nearshore trolling in my opinion, the way to spend a morning in towards the end of the month!
Obviously, our team here at Intercoastal Safaris wants a chance to help you make that happen.
